Die-Less Digital Cutter

Cardboard Cutting Machine

A die-less CNC cardboard cutting machine that cuts and creases corrugated, chipboard, honeycomb and foam board straight from a file — from first sample to small-batch production.

  • Die-less — your first sample the same day, cut straight from a file with no steel tooling to make or wait for.
  • Cut, crease and V-cut in one pass — our multi-tool head delivers fold-ready box blanks, not loose pieces.
  • CCD camera, belt auto-feed and MNT nesting software as standard — built by Hangzhou Chaohan, CE & ISO 9001 certified.

Overview

What Is a Die-Less Cardboard Cutting Machine?

A cardboard cutting machine is a digital flatbed system that uses a CNC-controlled oscillating knife and creasing wheel to cut and score corrugated board, chipboard, honeycomb panel and foam board directly from a design file. It combines cutting, creasing and plotting in one pass, so a finished box blank comes off the table ready to fold. The key word is die-less. Traditional die-cutting needs a steel die made for every design, which is slow and costly for samples and short runs. A digital cutter needs only a file, so you can cut your first carton sample the same day you design it — and change the design by editing the file, not by making a new die.
Die-Less vs Die-Cutting

Why Die-Less Beats Traditional Die-Cutting for Samples

For sample making, custom boxes and short runs, a digital knife removes the single biggest cost and delay of packaging production — the steel die.
Criteria Digital Knife (die-less) Traditional Die-Cutting
Tooling None — cuts from a file Steel die per design
First sample Same day Days to weeks (die making)
Design change Edit the file New die each time
Short run / custom Ideal, low cost per job Uneconomical
Cut + crease One pass, one setup Separate tooling
Setup cost per design Low High

How It Works

Cut and Crease in One Pass

A servo-driven head carries an oscillating knife plus a creasing wheel over a vacuum flatbed. The CNC system runs cut lines and score lines from the same file, so the machine creases fold lines and cuts the outline in one setup — the blank comes off ready to fold, not as loose pieces to assemble.
  • Vacuum table holds board flat and stable during cutting
  • Oscillating knife + creasing wheel + V-cut / kiss-cut tools for cut, score and part-depth cuts
  • CCD camera follows printed marks for print-to-cut carton finishing
  • Belt auto-feed for continuous roll or sheet throughput
  • Accepts HPGL / PLT / DXF files from standard CAD and packaging software

FAQ

Cardboard Cutting Machine — Buyer FAQ

Do I need a die to cut cardboard on this machine? No. It is a die-less digital cutter — it cuts and creases directly from your design file, so there is no steel die to make. You can produce a first carton sample the same day you finish the design.
Can it crease and cut in the same pass?Yes. A creasing wheel scores the fold lines and the oscillating knife cuts the outline from one file in a single setup, so the blank comes off the table ready to fold rather than as separate pieces.
What board types and thickness can it handle?Corrugated board, chipboard, grey board, honeycomb panel, foam/KT board and folding boxboard, up to around 50 mm thickness on rigid material with the right tool. Send your board for a cutting test to confirm depth.
Is it suitable for samples and short runs? That is its main strength. Because there is no die cost or lead time, sampling, custom boxes and small-batch cartons are fast and economical — you change designs by editing the file, not by making new tooling.
What files and software does it use?It accepts HPGL, PLT and DXF files and ships with MNT control software, integrating with standard CAD and packaging design systems. Automatic nesting to maximize board yield is available as an option.
Do you offer OEM, custom sizes and after-sales support?Yes. MNT (Hangzhou Chaohan) supplies custom working sizes and tooling, OEM/private-label options, online and on-site training, a 1-year warranty and lifetime software updates.
